Dutch Life : Bakkerij

Tulip Time : Day 3

The Dutch are known for their delicious (bakkerij) bakery goods.  My favorite is the deBoer Bakkerij in Holland.   They make Krakelingen,  Banket, and Lekkerbekjes, along with many other tasty treats! 

Fun Fact : Krakelingen (figure 8 sugar cookie) is a favorite, and only requires 4 ingredients!  The Dutch apparently were not too health conscious, because it is made of Water, butter, flour and sugar.... mostly butter. 

I attempted to photograph a candy store, and Dutch Bakery, but found Starbucks display of muffins to be the perfect fit for this image's vision.

Snow fun

For a Michigan Winter, this one's been pretty kind to us.... We had a few cold spells and a few snow storms but nothing compared to years past.  In fact, I sadly realized, I never took my kids sledding or skiing this year.... something I had promised.  As I was looking through some older files, I found these from our last short snow in January.  It was a silent, beautiful snow fall, with no wind.  I wanted to practice a few shots in the snow with my flashes not being blown over, so it was the perfect chance.  We all pulled away from Sunday evening barn chores for a quick photo and had some fun with it :)

Awakened Images Photography!

Enjoy our Epic Christmas card!  We had some fun making this card.  It's a 'Twilight/Lord of the Rings/Harry Potter" look, with a Lord of the Rings theme.  Although we love the dramatic twist to a good Christmas card, our hearts are only admiring the Christ Child during the Christmas season.  The Lord of Christmas, the Christ, will always be the reason for the season.  So as you Hustle around for those last minute presents, let God soften your hearts to accepting the best gift EVER!  It was given by God, and was a way for us to join him in eternity, through the sacrifice of Jesus. 

 I love thinking about what heaven must have looked like as Jesus left Heaven for his Earthly experience... did they commission him away at the time of the Holy Spirit's conception with Mary, or did he leave heaven at his birth in that lowly stable/cave in Bethlehem? 

 Did the angels send him away, throwing a great party, or was it a time of sadness, as they knew the rejection Jesus was to receive from his beloved children on this earth?

I love "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 NIV.   

God didn't send us the opportunity to enter heaven because we were becoming good people... he didn't ask us to clean up our acts so he could give us a cool gift....  

He sent it to us, while we were cursing him, spitting in his face, and choosing our own lifestyles.   We didn't deserve it, and yet, he gives... and gives.

Drone

This summer I bought an Autel Robotics Quadcopter and it has been a blast!  I have super nice quality aerial photography, video, and just a lot of fun with it. :)  Here's my 'paradise'.... my 3 acre farm.

Calvary Sports posters!

Although we are well into the sports seasons, this is my first go at the sports photography for this school year.   We conquered Boys Soccer, Cross country, and Girls Varsity and JV Volleyball and a few Junior High school sports teams all in the same session.  I try to get a vision for a poster that is made up of 30+ photos/layers/blends and overlays, then 

I'm super excited to get to go to Ben Shirk's sports Creatography class in Iowa next month.  He is an award winning photography Nationally, and Globally, and I'm sure I'll learn loads from him.  He was one of the photographers that has inspired me to try new photography techniques and bring it to a whole new level. 

 I'm proud to present some of my newest posters for our kid's small Christian School.   Enjoy!

Ella : Dutch

Ella and Dutch have come SOOOOO far in just 1 short year!  They compete in Dressage, and Dutch is new to the States, but after the adjusting to things here, he has progressed with his training exponentially!  Watch out to the Show Ring in 2017... make room for these champions!  

This girl and her horse could model for any Equine magazine! I mean, just look at them!  Enjoy a few Teasers!!!

Pennsylvania trip

On our trip to Pennsylvania we toured the Valley Forge National Park.  It was hot, but a great chance to look back in time at our country's beginning.  We saw George Washington's quarters during the revolutionary war, an old train station, and the museum of collected relics of the soldiers and generals.  It was really fun. The kids mostly enjoyed the pool at the hotel, but the trip went so fast anyway, that we hardly had a chance to really tour.    Enjoy a few pictures of OUR part of the trip.   We really don't take much with the cameras.  Our phones probably have more pictures of the trip and you've probably seen it all on Instagram already :)
